OCTOBER IN PINK

On October 24, 2024, the students and teachers of the “NORDBAT-2” secondary school in Vareš organized and implemented a workshop with which they wanted to mark and in their own way draw attention to the fight against breast cancer. October is known as breast cancer awareness month and is celebrated internationally every year by wearing pink ribbons and clothing.

The goal of marking this date is to make young people, especially girls and women, aware of the importance of taking care of their health. It is evident that today’s lifestyle and stress greatly influence the development of a number of diseases, including breast cancer. By marking this day, we wanted to show how important self-control is in order to detect a health problem in time and treat it successfully. Of course, we also showed solidarity and support for women who are fighting this disease.

Five female students participated in the implementation of this activity, along with the local coordinator, teacher Amina Pajt Sezairi. All students and teachers, about 170 of them, reacted positively to the workshop and the way of drawing attention to health and its preservation, and they also received pink ribbons.

This activity was implemented within the project “Reconciliation Through Dialogue and Joint Activities in the Local Communities in BiH”, which is financially supported by the German Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
